WOOLMARK PRIZE
TYPOLOGY
exhibition/catalogue
YEAR
2006-07
Though once a respected quality assurance label in fashion, the Woolmark brand had lost resonance by the 1980s. To revitalize it, concept+image proposed reviving the
once-legendary Woolmark Prize, a fashion competition that launched the careers of the designers Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent. To that end, the agency reconceived the prize’s statutes and offer; selected young designers from Europe, China and the US; convened a jury that included director-level editorial talent from US and Chinese Vogue, the Financial Times, French Elle and the renowned Parisian boutique colette; produced the launch event and exhibition at Paris’s contemporary art museum the Palais de Tokyo; and created a catalogue that included 45 years of brand heritage and history.
